Victorian Stained Glass Window Restoration
We were recommended by another client to a gentleman in sometcotes alfreton. He had been quoted £8000 to replace the window and double glazed units added. Because of the old lead work the client was having issues with with draft and with the expense of heating in the current crisis something had to be done. On the exterior we found that the client had tried to protect the rott with flash band which only made matters worse in the long run. The rott had spread to inside and loosened the frame from the opening. We managed to fix the frame work back to the opening and added stabiliser/Hardener and resin to the effected areas, carving the detail back in to what the flashband was trying to cover up. We then moved inside and fitted removable micro double glazed units using hard wood glazing beads and decorative solid brass screws, this meant that the micro double glazed units could be removed easily to be cleaned when necessary. These techniques saved our client over 75% in cost.
